Storm bars are an important quality feature which helps to protect your log cabin from wind damage. The storm bars are fitted at each corner to counter the impact of strong winds, by joining the individual logs together. This feature is especially useful if the cabin features a large exposed roof overhang. Many log cabins do not include storm bars. Metal storm bars are fitted in cabins with thicker logs. Substantial full height threaded steel rods are passed through every log at each corner and bolted at the top and bottom. The bottom of the rods are easily accessible after installation so they can be tightened as required to allow for any timber movement.
